Idyllically located by the loch and woodland

The Old Byre

The Old Byre at Tiroran is part of the refurbished Tiroran Steadings. It is a wonderful holiday cottage with a delightful approach via a road which wraps around the north shores of Loch Scridain. So from the moment you arrive at The Old Byre, you can start to relax in this peaceful, private location.

It’s a tranquil cottage, right next to some woodlands. There’s private parking as well as an enclosed patio area. With easy access to expansive walking tracks straight from the door, you can start your adventure now.

Ground floor at The Old Byre

The outer door leads directly into a large dining kitchen.

The kitchen at The Old Byre is well-equipped. It has a concealed dishwasher, fridge freezer and a large dining area with additional surrounding seating.  This makes the perfect area for gathering your friends and family around you.  Made for socialising, this dining kitchen leads directly through to the Sitting Room. Here you’ll find generous and comfortable seating areas, a flat screen TV and a modern electric fire to cosy around if the weather is not so good outside.  The Sitting Room enjoys views on one side out to the Steadings Courtyard area and to the adjacent woodland on the other.  It is a light and spacious room. The perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy your break.

From the Dining Kitchen, there is a door through to a small hall area. There is an Shower room and W.C. here (which is in addition to the generous family bathroom on the upper floor of The Old Byre).

The Patio Area is directly outside the kitchen dining area. It’s ideal for a spot of ‘al fresco’ dining when the weather allows. Or you could just sit here for a while. Treat yourself to some quality time, or star gaze into the dark skies on a clear night.

Enjoy walks straight from your cottage door, and be sure to look for the sea eagles. Hopefully you’ll see the deer and stags who roam nearby too. There’s a favoured location for grazing very close!  This really is the ideal base to watch the wildlife all around you on Mull.

Bedroom 2: This bedroom has a king size bed and enjoys super views across the surrounding countryside towards the rear of the property. A peaceful and restorative night’s sleep awaits you.

Bedroom 3: The twin room allows more flexibility for your guests. It is well laid out with both hanging space and drawers for your convenience.

Explore the Isle of Mull

Tiroran is beautifully situated on the Kilfinichen Estate. It lies to the west of Ben More, on the western side of Mull.

This part of the world is home to a stunning array of wildlife. You might see golden and white-tailed eagles, otters, red deer and wild goats during your time here. Also much of the surrounding land is traditionally farmed here. So you’ll see both sheep and cattle roaming the hills.

You’ll have easy access to tracks to explore straight from the door of your holiday accommodation. Maybe you’ll take on the challenging walk from Tiroran. Venture along the remote western tip of the Ardmeanach Peninsula of Mull, over to Burg and the Fossil tree. It’s worth it! You will be rewarded with some of the most dramatic coastal scenery the island has to offer.
